OnePlus 6T price in India was recently leaked and the report even added that there will be no 64GB storage version for the OnePlus 6T smartphone. But how exactly has OnePlus priced its phones in the past?
OnePlus 6T India launch has been confirmed on October 30 and while the company has already confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC under-the-hood, a waterdrop display design with a small display notch, in-display fingerprint scanner and more, the biggest mystery is OnePlus 6T’s price in India, which is yet to be confirmed.
Now, according to a recent leak, OnePlus 6T price in India will start from Rs. 37,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage while there will be no 64GB storage version of the smartphone. On the other hand, the 8GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage models of the OnePlus 6T will be priced at Rs. 40,999 and Rs. 44,999.
How likely is the OnePlus 6T to be priced at Rs. 37,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage model and what does the company’s track record says when it comes to pricing its smartphones? We are going to find the answer here with an analysis of how OnePlus has priced its phones over the years.
OnePlus 6T expected price in India: From OnePlus 3 to OnePlus 6T, how prices have increased for OnePlus phones
The OnePlus 3 which was launched in the year 2016 with Snapdragon 820 SoC and 6GB of RAM was priced at Rs. 27,999 while the OnePlus 3T, which came in two variants, namely the 64GB storage versions and the 128GB storage version, was priced at Rs. 29,999 and Rs. 34,999 for the respective versions.
Then came the OnePlus 5 in 2017. It was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and was launched in two RAM versions (6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage). Both of these variants were priced Rs. 32,999 and Rs. 37,999, respectively. This made for a substantial price hike since it was also the first smartphone from the company to come with a dual rear camera setup.
Some months later, OnePlus 5T got launched with a better display, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, improved camera and face unlock, however, OnePlus surprised us by launching it at the same price at which the OnePlus 5 was launched.
Then came the OnePlus 6 in the year 2018 and we saw the Chinese smartphone maker adopting the display notch, all-glass body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides, vertically aligned dual rear camera placed at the centre of the rear panel, instead of the top left corner, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and better cameras. The OnePlus 6 was priced at Rs. 34,999 for the 6GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage variant and Rs. 39,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB inbuilt storage version. The top end version with 8GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage was priced at Rs. 44,999.
This brings us to the expected OnePlus 6T price in India and since the device will be coming with some major upgrades over the OnePlus 6, such as the waterdrop display design with a small display notch, in-display fingerprint scanner and more, we expect the OnePlus 6T to be priced higher than its predecessor and the Rs. 37,999 price tag for the 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage model seems perfectly fine. However, we do expect the actual launch price to be near the Rs. 37,999 price tag, if not the same.
