Independence Day is nearing and so is the date of registering for new JioPhone 2. Reliance Jio at its Annual General Meeting this year announced a younger sibling of JioPhone dubbed JioPhone 2.
The phone is expected to be smarter and more efficient than the JioPhone 2. Not only in specs, the new JioPhone 2 is also going to be pricier than the JioPhone. Jio says that the new JioPhone 2 will be available for buying from the same date when its registrations begin i.e. August 15. During JioPhone, people had to wait for a week or so after the registration to get the JioPhone.
India has a growing market for the feature phone and JioPhone has already earned a good name in this segment. With JioPhone 2, Reliance Jio could disrupt the feature phone market once again.
Meanwhile, there is a lot of murmurs and chattering around this new JioPhone 2. The new phone will also come with WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook support. JioPhone until now only supports Facebook. It will also get the WhatsApp and YouTube support starting August 15.

Price of JioPhone 2: You have to pay Rs 2,999 at the time of booking the JioPhone 2. There is no cash on delivery option yet.
Specs of the JioPhone 2: The JioPhone 2 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display. Unlike the JioPhone, the JioPhone 2 comes with a BlackBerry-like QWERTY keypad. The phone comes runs on KAI OS and comes with 512MB RAM with 4GB storage. The storage memory can be expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. There is 2000mAH battery, On the rear panel, the JioPhone 2 sports a single sensor of 2-megapixel while on the front you get a VGA sensor.
Registering for JioPhone 2: To book your JioPhone 2, head to MyJio app or Jio.com website. Click on the registration page and follow the instructions. You will have to pay online the entire Rs 2999 cash amount as there is no cash on delivery available yet. Jio has not revealed any details on the shipping yet.
App support for JioPhone 2: JioPhone 2 will run WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Maps, and YouTube.
JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer: Jio has separately also announced JioPhone exchange offer under which the company will give you a chance to buy JioPhone at Rs 501 in exchange for any old feature phone. Note that the phone which is to exchange should not be more than three years old. This Rs 501 is refundable.
